STARKVILLE, Miss. - More than 120 former Mississippi State University baseball players, coaches, managers and trainers are expected to converge on Starkville November 4-5 when MSU hosts its 12th Alumni Baseball Weekend.

The weekend’s events will include a Saturday afternoon golf tournament at the MSU Golf Course followed by a players’ dinner at the Bryce Griffis Board Room adjacent to the Palmeiro Center.

But for many the main event of the weekend will be the popular alumni baseball game, set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday Nov. 5 at Dudy Noble Field.

“We always look forward to hosting this event and having so many of our former athletes and staff members back on campus,” said MSU head coach Ron Polk. “For many of the returning players it may be a first opportunity to see the beautiful new Palmeiro Center, the Griffis Board Room and our new baseball coaches’ office building. As always, we anticipate a great response from our fans in welcoming the baseball alumni back to campus.”

The list of returning players features a host of all-conference performers and at least six current or former Major League players, including infielder Travis Chapman and pitchers Jeff Brantley, Eric DuBose, Paul Maholm, Jonathan Papelbon and Bobby Thigpen.

There is no charge for admission to the nine-inning alumni baseball game
